Hey friends! Guess what? A new week is upon us, and you know what that means—my pile of unread books is practically begging for attention! I've got six titles lined up this week, and here’s the fun part: one of them is a reread! I can barely remember it, so it’s like I’m about to embark on a brand new adventure. You all know how my memory can get fuzzy with those beloved stories; that’s exactly why I love revisiting them. Can’t wait to dive in!
So, here’s the kicker—two of these books are written from a third-person point of view! You all know how I sometimes struggle with that perspective, but I’m totally ready to tackle it head-on and expand my reading horizons. Wish me luck!
Among the six, four are part of my May TBR (to-be-read) list. If I finish them, I will have read seven out of the ten books I planned for the month. That feeling of accomplishment is within reach!
But let’s dive into what awaits me this week!
The Lineup
1. No More Secrets by Lucy Score
So, I just dove back into No More Secrets by Lucy Score, and oh my gosh, it feels like a reunion! I read this book a few years ago, along with the whole Blue Moon Series, but you know me—I forget things like it's my job. Now that I've started it again, everything is flooding back, and I’m totally hooked!
This book is such a cute contemporary small-town romance, and it’s all about this super nosy "hippie" community that’s basically obsessed with matchmaking. Seriously, it’s like they have a matchmaking hotline or something! I can already feel myself getting attached to the characters, and you know how I get—my heartstrings are definitely being tugged.
Right from the start, we meet a character dealing with some heavy past mistakes, and it’s so relatable. I mean, who hasn't faced their own challenges, right? Score really nails it with her characters; they feel so real and their struggles hit home. I can’t wait to keep reading and see where this goes! Let’s chat about it more when I’m done!
2. Lotus by Jennifer Hartmann
So, you know what I’m diving into next? Lotus by Jennifer Hartmann! I’ve heard so many reviews saying it’s a super emotional ride. Seriously, just like with Still Beating, I’m expecting to feel all the feels. That book is still living rent-free in my head, and I just know Lotus is going to hit me right in the heart too. I’m getting ready for a wild journey that might leave me emotionally drained but totally fulfilled. Can’t wait to chat about it once I’m done!
3. Beneath the Stands by Emily McIntire
OMG, I can’t even with the anticipation for Beneath the Stands by Emily McIntire! Seriously, I’m so ready for it! Beneath the Stars was a total 5-star read for me, and I just know this one is going to blow my mind too. 😍
So, this book is all about Alina's best friend, Becca, and Alina's brother, right? I’m here for all the romance, conflict, love, and hate! It sounds like it's going to be such a wild ride. Plus, I love how sports romances dive into those real-life struggles—like chasing success and dealing with failures. I can't wait to see how Emily McIntire weaves all that together in this one. Let’s hope it lives up to our expectations! 🎉
4. Gothikana by RUNYX
So, let me tell you about this book, Gothikana by RUNYX. My son totally surprised me with it for my birthday back in March, and honestly, the cover is just so intriguing—it really caught my eye right away! At first, I did put it down because it’s written in third person POV, which I usually struggle with. But now that I'm reading another book in the same style, I think I’m finally in the right mindset to dive into this one.
I mean, you know how much I love dark atmospheres, right? And when you throw some romance into the mix, I’m all in! Plus, this book has a fantasy element that I’m still getting used to, but I’m excited to see where it takes me. I’ve got high hopes that it’ll whisk me away to some engaging and twisted realm that keeps me guessing. Can’t wait to get started!
5. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
Guess what? I've finally decided to dive into A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas! I know, I know, I've been putting it off forever, but it’s about time I see what all the fuss is about. I’m a little nervous though—like, will I really vibe with the whole fae fantasy thing? But honestly, I really want to love it!
This book seems to have everything: rich fantasy elements and some serious romantic vibes. It sounds like the perfect escape from reality, right? I can’t wait to join these characters on their wild adventures and uncover all those hidden secrets. I’m ready to lose myself in this world and just get completely immersed! Wish me luck!
6. The Billionaire's Assistant by Odessa Alba
Latest Addition to My Reading List
So, last on my list is The Billionaire's Assistant by Odessa Alba. You won't believe the funny story behind how I got this book! My wife was out buying flowers for our yard, and guess what? The woman who sold them to her is actually the author of this book. How wild is that?
I really have no idea what to expect from it. All I know is that it’s set in my home state of Connecticut and seems to be a workplace romance. Beyond that, I'm totally in the dark. I’m going in blind and honestly, I’m not expecting anything too heavy from it. I think I’ll read it after I finish Lotus. It could be the perfect palate cleanser after diving into some of those more emotionally intense reads I have lined up. Can’t wait to see how it goes!
Emotional Rollercoaster Ahead
So, I was just looking over my stack of books, and I can already tell that at least two of them are going to hit me right in the feels. You know how it is—sometimes a story just resonates with you, and I’m totally ready for that emotional rollercoaster!
Also, I’m super pumped about this one book that’s inspired by my home state. There’s something so comforting and exciting about reading stories set in places you know, right? It makes everything feel more relatable and personal. Can’t wait to dive in!
Aspiring to Tackle New Genres
Exploring Fantasy Romance
This week's reading list marks my initial venture into the genre of Fantasy Romance, or "Romantasy" as many call it. I have long been intrigued by this combination, and now I feel ready to explore it. I hope that Gothikana and A Court of Thorns and Roses will guide me into this fascinating literary territory.
Books to Explore
Gothikana - A captivating tale that blends elements of fantasy with romantic intrigue.
A Court of Thorns and Roses - A well-known series that intertwines romance with a richly developed fantasy world.
Anticipation for the Journey
As I dive into these stories, I look forward to experiencing the unique blend of fantasy and romance that defines this genre. It promises to be an exciting literary adventure!
Challenges Ahead
So, I'm really determined to knock out all these books this week, but you know how life is—distractions are creeping in already. Can you believe it’s already Thursday? I might have to rethink my timeline and push my goals back by a day or two. It’s like life just loves to throw a curveball at our best intentions!
But you know me, I’m still holding onto that optimism! I’m hoping I can power through this stack of six books. If I pull it off, I’ll not only feel super accomplished, but I’ll also dive into some amazing stories that will stick with me long after I finish reading. Fingers crossed, right?
Happy Reading Ahead
So, here’s the scoop—I've got some pretty ambitious reading plans lined up for the week! I’m diving into a mix of genres that promise some serious emotional exploration, plus a few local references that I'm super excited about. If any of you have read the titles on my list, I’d really love to hear your thoughts. Are there any that you think will totally surprise me or maybe even break my heart?
By the end of this "week," I’m hoping to come out not just as a reader, but as someone who’s really connected with a bunch of diverse characters and their journeys. Let the magic of literature begin, right?
xx,
Tash
